5/1/2008 – This morning at 6:21am the Sussex County Emergency Operation Center alerted the Delmar Fire Department along with Medic 102 & DSP Trooper-2 for a motor vehicle accident with rescue at the intersection of Rt.54 & Providence Church Rd. While enroute crews were advised of heavy entrapment in an overturned pick up. Rescue 74 arrived led by 74-15 Shawn Johnson and began to set up for rescue operations. Crews stabilized the upside down truck using jacks & chocks. Medic 102 arrived and split their crew do to having 2 patients needing advance life support care. Command requested a ambulance from Sta.81 Laurel to respond to the scene. Both patients were removed form their vehicles and transported to PRMC in Salisbury for treatment. The call was placed under control and the scene was turned over to the Delaware State Police. Delmar Fire Police closed down Providence Church Rd and shut down one lane of Rt.54 during this alarm.
