12/24/2016 – At approx. 6PM on Christmas Eve, Sussex EOC alerted Laurel Fire Department of a MVC on RT24 in the area of the graveyard. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a pickup truck that had ran into a pole and cute the pole in two. Emergency personnel had to wait for the power company arrive to ensure the safety of the fire and ems workers to assist the driver out of the car. Sharptown Fire Dept was alerted to assist on the Sharptown side of accident. Del Dot was requested to the scene, and once they arrived all fire units were released.
