5/13/2013 – On May 13, 2013 at approximately 0551, Station 81 along with Medic 102 was alerted for an MVC roll over involving a tanker truck. Crew from ambulance A-81 arrived on scene along with Medic 102 to find one 8,000 gallon gasoline tanker on its passenger side and the driver outside of the vehicle walking around the scene. FF/EMT Matt Burge activated DNREC due to a ruptured saddle tank and unknown amount of gasoline in the tanker truck. Multiple crews responded to the scene with Fire Captain Dale Brown assuming command upon arrival to the scene. The scene was upgraded to a Level I Hazmat cert with the tanker needing to be emptied of its 1018 gallons of gasoline before being up righted. Crews worked on scene for approximately 6 hours.
