12/20/2010 – On December 20th at 1629 Sussex EOC dispatched Laurel Fire Department, Sussex Medic 107, Blades Volunteer Fire Company Ambulance, and DSP Trooper 2 to a MVC with Rescue in the area of 8312 Portsville Road. 81 Command responded with Deputy Chief M Sheridan and arrived on scene to find a min-van that had left the roadway and ended up in the woods on its side with 1 subject trapped in the vehicle. Rescue 81 under the direction of Chief Hill arrived on scene and stabilized the vehicle to prepare for extrication. Chief Hill had the operations with A Layton as the XO. Engine 2 under the direction of AC LeCates provided additional manpower to assist with the extrication. The patient was extricated and transported to NMH by A71 and later flown to Christiana Medical Center with a possible Head Injury. Units remained on the scene for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
