6/25/2010 – At approximately 8:40 AM Talbot Center dispatched Station 80 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro), Paramedic 90 and Queen Anne’s County Paramedic 400 for a 10-50 PI reported serious with entrapment and one vehicle on fire, on Route 404 in the area of Pinder Road. While getting ready to respond Officer 801 (T. Unruh) requested Talbot Center dispatch Station 50 (Cordova) to assist. Talbot Center advised all responding units that Caroline County Utility 404 was on location and confirmed one entrapment and one vehicle on fire.
Rescue 84 arrived on location and Officer 801 (T. Unruh) established “Shore Highway” command. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and started patient care, it is believed one of the patients was ejected. After further assessment of the scene, Command requested aviation and advised Engine 52 to secure a landing zone at the Armory, just east of the accident scene. Trooper 1 and Trooper 6 each transported a priority 1 patient to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
The highway remained closed for several hours while the Maryland State Police reconstructed the scene.
