4/24/2010 – Today the Greensboro Volunteer Fire Company held a housing and dedication ceremony for Engine 604. Before the ceremony started the new Engine was on display for the member and community to look at while refreshments were served. The ceremony started with Chief House revealing a plaque on the side of the truck, dedicating Engine 604 in honor of Mr. Alvin “Buddy” Simpson and in memory of Mr. Curtis L. Harvey for their dedicated service to the citizens of Greensboro.
The ceremony ended with the officers and members pushing the new Engine through the door of the station.
Engine 604 is a Pierce Pumper on an Arrow XT Chassis with a 6 man cab, powered by a 490 HP Detroit S60. This unit is equipped with a Husky Foam System, 1500 GPM Waterous pump, 1000 gallon tank, Harrison 10 KW generator and roll up compartment doors. Their new Engine is replacing a 1987 Seagrave Pumper.
Unit was sold by Singer Associates.
