2/1/2010 – Around 00:35, Kent Center dispatched Station 50 (Harrington) for a building fire at 100 Delaware Avenue, CafĂ© Milano, and advised units to utilize K-TAC4. Command 50 with 50-15 (Chief Derrick Brode) went responding shortly after dispatch. Harrington PD Corporal Kenny Brode (907-5/50-21) went on scene moments after and advised Kent Center and 50-15 that he had heavy smoke showing, with fire showing from the Delta side and exposure to propane tanks. Chief Brode arrived and advised Engine 50-1 to pick up the hydrant at Delaware Avenue and Clark Street and drop a 5′ supply line. Crews from Engine 50-1 placed two 1-3/4′ handlines in service, one into the structure and the other to the Delta side to protect the exposure to the propane tanks. Command placed the incident under control around 02:10.
