1/31/2010 – At 1:35 Caroline dispatched Station 700 (Goldsboro), Station 600 (Greensboro), Station 56 (Marydel) and Paramedic 16 for a possible house fire at 15139 Drapers Mill Road. Engine 703 arrived on location, Officer 716 (B. Cahall) reported heavy smoke showing and established command. With the arrival of Engine 702, Officer 715 (J.T. Bartz) was assigned “operations officer” and crews advanced hand lines through the door for an interior attack. They were able to put a quick knock on the fire in the house however the fire had extended into the attic which had limited access. Crews operated on the scene for approximately 3 hours before returning to service.
Station 400 (Ridgely) and Station 300 (Denton) were also requested to the scene to complete the 1st alarm. Crews assisted in fire suppression and overhaul.
The fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshall’s Office and the Red Cross was called to assist the misplaced family.
