1/19/2010 – At approximately 12:30pm on Tuesday, January 19th, the Vienna Fire Department was alerted for an accident with injuries at the intersection of Route 50 and Route 731. Units arrived on location to find a head on collision involving a Maryland State Police Trooper and a Toyota Avalon. Upon arrival, it was discovered that occupants from both vehicles were trapped and needed to be cut from the wreckage. EMS units were called from Dorchester County and Sharptown Fire Departments to the scene. Trooper 4 and Trooper 6 were also requested to transport patients to area hospitals, one of which was the MSP trooper. Route 50 in both directions was shut down for nearly four hours as MSP reconstruction teams investigated the cause of the accident.
