6/19/2009 – Just before 7am on June 16, 2009 Station 6 and Station 7 (Pittsville) were alerted for a Motor Vehicle Collision with Entrapment on Mt. Hermon Rd. in the area of Berry Rd. As units were responding, Central advised that they received a call advising 1 vehicle that was overturned with 1 patient trapped. 651 (Spec Ops Lt. See) arrived POV and confirmed the report and advised that the car had struck a utility pole as well. RE604 (617 E. Tyler) arrived and verified vehicle stabilization and assessed the car for the best access to the patient. The driver side was chosen and the Hurst spreader and Cutter were put to work. Once the doors were removed, the ‘B’ post was cut out and the back of the driver seat was cut. With everything out of the way, the patient was extricated in just under 20 minutes and was transported to PRMC by PM A-6. Mt. Hermon Rd. was closed during the incident and traffic control was provided by Station 7 Fire Police.
