5/21/2009 – At approximately 12:20 PM Queen Anne’s County dispatched Station 4 (Goodwill), Station 3 (Queenstown) and Station 8 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro) for a working barn fire on Bloomingdale Road in the area of John Brown Road. Paramedic 200 was the first on location and reported a fully involved building. Due to the large amount of smoke visible while responding to the scene, Officer 405 (D.J. Whitby) called for the Tanker Task Force to be alerted. Upon the arrival of Special Unit 49, Officer 405 (D.J. Whitby) established command and requested the 2nd alarm. An engine from Station 400 (Ridgely) established a draft site at a pond on Route 213 and started a water shuttle. Crews battled the blaze for approximately 45 minutes with the situation being placed under control at 1:15 PM, holding all units for overhaul. Units cleared the scene about 3:30 PM. The Maryland State Fire Marshall’s office is conducting the investigation.
