4/17/2009 – Just after 9:30pm on Friday evening, Sussex EOC alerted Station 81 (Laurel) and Station 79 (Gumboro) to a reported structure fire on E. Trap Pond Rd. in Laurel. Crews arrived to find an abandoned house nearly burned to the ground. For safety only exposures were protected. There have been a couple dozen of these type of fires in the past 2+ years, anyone with information is asked to contact the State Fire Marshal’s office.
