2/5/2009 – At approximately 8:15 PM Queen Anne’s County Station 2 ( Grasonville ), Station 1 ( Kent Island ) and Station 3 ( Queenstown ) were dispatched for a working dwelling fire at 3101 Bennett’s Point Road. Upon arrival on location the first engine reported heavy fire on side A of the dwelling. Command immediately requested the county Tanker Task Force and shortly thereafter requested a second alarm. After about an hour the situation was placed under control, while holding units for extensive overhaul. While on the fire scene a firefighter from Queenstown suffered from smoke inhalation and was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore by Trooper 6. The damage is estimated at $300,000 and it is still under investigation by the State Fire Marshal office. It was in the early hours of the morning before the last units cleared the scene.
