6/20/2008 – At 3:57am the Delmar Fire Department along with sta.81 Laurel & Sta.14 Sharptown were alerted for a structure fire on Susan Beach Rd west of Delmar. Crews arrived to find a 2 ½ story home with heavy fire in the rear of the structure. Because of it being an old abandoned structure, command gave the order to perform a defensive attack. Crews were on scene for nearly an hour. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating this as another arson fire. There have been 7 fires in the area of Delmar & Laurel that officials are ruling as arson.
While crews were working this fire, Sta.74 Delmar, Sta.2 Salisbury & Sta.6 Parsonsburg was alerted for a pool shed fire on the Maryland side of Delmar. Sharptown’s Engine Tanker 1402 that was standing by at Sta.74 handled the alarm for Delmar.
