3/20/2008 – March 20, 2008 – Parsonsburg Volunteers were alerted for an MVC in the area of Jones Hastings Rd and Old Ocean City Rd. RE-604 arrived on location with a single vehicle MVC with a tractor trailer in the ditch. The crew of RE-604 determined that the truck was leaking diesel fuel into water filled drainage ditch. Command Requested Wicomico Emergency Mangament and the Salisbury Fire Department Hazmat team to the scene, to assist in the mitigation and partial clean up of the incident.
Crews from Parsonsburg and Salisbury deployed sorbant pads to drainage ditch in an attempt to recover the 100 plus gallons of spilled fuel. Crews operated for about 2 hours on the scene.
