1/4/2008 – At 2146 hours Wicomicio E.O.C. alerted Station 6 for a reported MVA with rescue on Dagsboro Road. Central then alerted Station 7 for a Rescue Company assist.
Deputy Chief Mark Rickards arrived on scene and gave central an exact location and confirmed entrapment.. The accident occured on the curvey part of Dagsboro Road just east of the Gun Club.
DC Rickards established Dagsboro Road Command. After a quick scene size up, he requested three additional Paramedic Units. This request brought in Medic Units out of Salisbury, Pittsville, & Willards.
The first arriving Medic Unit from Parsonsburg confirmed all five patients were priority 1.
Rescue Engine 604 arrived on the scene from the Parsonsburg Road end of the collision and began extrication on the vehilce. Rescue 7 arrived shortly after and began assisting with extrication.
A total of 5 patients, 4 in one car and one in the other were transported to PRMC. At this time PRMC has confirmed that two patients from the MVC have died and the rest are in critical condition.
