Gregory Alan Hamilton

4/12/2011 - Gregory Alan Hamilton of Hillsboro, MD died on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was 42.

Born March 29, 1969 in Munich, Germany, he was the son of Robert Lee and Patricia Ann Walters Hamilton. He was raised in Cape St. Clair, MD where he graduated from Broadneck High School, Class of 1987. He then attended Anne Arundel Community College where he received his paramedic certification. In 1990 he married the former, Melissa Swiger of Glen Burnie and they later divorced. In 1998 he married the former Susan Parks of Pasadena, MD. Mr. Hamilton worked as a firefighter-paramedic and flight paramedic in Anne Arundel and Queen Anne’s counties.

He was both a paid and volunteer for Delmar Fire Dept. as a Paramedic since April 2010 to present, Goodwill Fire Dept. as a Paramedic since July 2008 to present, MedSTAR Transport as a Critical Care Flight Paramedic from Nov. 2004 to Jan. 2009, TransCare Ambulance Service - operations supervisor/critical care paramedic from April 2002 to Nov. 2003, Rural Metro Ambulance - operations supervisor/critical care paramedic from Jan. 2002 to April 2002, MedSTAR/Rural Metro Ft. Worth, TX as Paramedic from March 1999 to Dec. 2001, various ambulance services where he provided care in ALS and critical care settings from 1991-1997, Baltimore City Fire Dept. as Paramedic from 1988 – 1991, FF/paramedic engineer with Queen Anne Hillsboro VFC from 2004 to present, Talbot County EMS LT in 2008, Asst. Chief with Millsap VFD in TX from 1999 – 2001, Paramedic first responder with Campbell Emergency Response Team in Weatherford, TX from 1999-2001, Technical rescue specialist with the Parker County Fire Dept. Special Rescue Team, confined space from 2000-2001, FF/Paramedic Anne Arundel County Fire Dept. from 1985-1999 and 2001-2004. Greg started his training and career with AACO and progressed from probationary firefighter up through pump operator, paramedic (1992 at Anne Arundel Community College) Fire Officer I and II, Lt, and training officer.

Greg also dedicated many hours teaching Paramedic classes for the University of Maryland.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Hamilton is survived by two sons, Christopher Michael Hamilton of Centreville, MD and Robert Lee Hamilton of Hillsboro, MD; a daughter, Samantha Michelle Hamilton of Hillsboro, MD; his maternal grandmother, Anna Walters of Glen Burnie, MD.

Funeral services for Greg will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, Chester, MD at 11:00 AM.

Friends may call at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A., Centreville, MD on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM.
