Roscoe ''Cody'' James

12/8/2010 - Life member Roscoe ''Cody'' James has answered his last alarm, Wednesday Dec. 8th, 2010.
Cody was a devoted volunteer fireman, a lifetime member, and was active , serving as Fire Police Capt. up until this past year.
At 82 he continued to be on the ''Top Ten'' list of active members making alarms.
Carnival time he could be found some were on the carnival grounds, from morning till the end of the night, when the carnival was over.

Cody was also a 19-year member of the Rescue Fire Department, (Cambridge), until he moved to Hebron.

In 2005, Cody was inducted into the Delmarva Firefighters Hall Of Fame, for his accomplishments in the Fire Service.

Cody also served his Country and was a United States Navy Veteran and was a member of the American Legion in Hebron.

Cody will be sady missed by all.

The following is copy of his Obituary:

R. Cody James, 82, of Hebron died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake.
Born in Cambridge on April 2, 1928, he was the son of the late Lloyd E. James and Belle Spedden James.
Mr. James followed his father in the harness racing business, owned, trained and drove harness horses for forty-nine years. Mr. James was a devoted volunteer fireman, a lifetime member of Hebron Volunteer Fire Department, 19-year member of the Rescue Fire Department and was inducted into the Delmarva Firefighters Hall of Fame in 2005. He was a United States Navy Veteran and was a member of the American Legion in Hebron.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Shirley Bounds James; two sons, Wayne James of Ocean City and Charles James of Cambridge; five daughters, Janice Evans of Cambridge, Dee James of Ocean Pines, Billie Jo Willoughby of East New Market, Robin Bennett of Delmar and Dawn Jones of Quantico; a brother, Lee James of Federalsburg; and sisters, Nettie Belle Stevens of Cambridge and Mary Lou Lombardo of Astor Park, Fla. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Parvin and Bill James, and one sister, Alice Ruark.
A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department on Main Street, where friends may call from noon-2 p.m. The Rev. James Riley will officiate. Interment will follow in Hebron Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Cody to Hebron Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 300, Hebron, Md. 21830 or Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21802.
Arrangements are being handled by the staff of Bounds Funeral Home.
