6/11/2010 - The state of Maryland is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who killed an off-duty state trooper.

Gov. Martin O'Malley announced the reward on Friday, as police continued to search for the person who shot and killed Trooper 1st Class Wesley W. Brown, 24.


State Police along with Prince George's County Police are searching the Forrestville area for the suspect who shot and killed an off duty state trooper early this morning.

The shooting took place at around 12:40 in the parking lot of an Applebee's Restaurant on Donnell Drive in Forrestville in Prince George's County.


Trooper Brown is the 42nd Maryland state trooper to die in the line of duty.

Brown recently became engaged to be married.

Saturday morning, the Maryland State Police and Brown's family released details of funeral arrangements.

A viewing is scheduled for this coming Friday at the Abyssina Baptist Church in Capitol Heights from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. next Saturday at the Jericho City of Praise in Landover.

Burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Suitland
